Margie Douglas

Margie Douglas, 96, of Sontag, passed away July 6, 2022, at her home with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. Margie was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Sicily Island, La., to Eldred and Ida Conn Bird.
A funeral service was held July 9 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Sontag, with graveside following in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Richard Green and Bro. Jimmy Smith officiated, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Margie retired from the Lincoln Lawrence Regional Library after 30-plus years. She volunteered for the C.P.C. for 13 years. She was a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served on many committees. She enjoyed spending time with her family and researching genealogy. Margie will be missed by everyone.
Margie is survived by her son, Ian Douglas (Kim), of Sontag; her grandsons, Kris Douglas (Michelle), of Brookhaven; Troy Douglas (Ashley), of Brookhaven; Andi Douglas (Erin), of Bogue Chitto; step-grandsons, Spencer Conley (Ashley) and Chris Conley (Bailey), of Phoenix, Ariz.; step-grandaughter, Amanda Burrage (Joe), of Asheville, N.C.; one brother, Paul Bird (Margie), of Meridian; sisters-in-law, Betty Wansley Bird, of Laurel; Sarah Douglas, of Sontag; and Anna Crane, of Brookhaven. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buddy Douglas; son, Thurman Douglas; one brother; and four sisters.
