Shannon Michael Slater

Funeral services were held July 6, 2022, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee for Shannon Michael Slater, 47, of Brookhaven, who passed away June 30. Interment was at New Hebron Cemetery in New Hebron. Rev. Mike Carr officiated, and Kelli Groover provided special music.
Born Jan. 8, 1975, Shannon was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and nephew. His son, Jack, was the joy of his life. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing video games together. Shannon was an active member of Southway Baptist Church in Brookhaven. He worked for many years as a loyal employee of C-Spire. He loved his work, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Charles Berry Slater and James Kimble Richards; and two grandmothers, Lula Maydene Slater and Mildred Luella Richards.
He is survived by his son, Jackson Colt Slater; father, Charles Burnley Slater; mother, Nancy Jeannette Richards Slater; two sisters, Alicia Slater and Melissa Suzette Snyder (Greg); niece, Emma Slater-Powell; uncle, James Roger Slater (Karen); and an aunt, Loretta Ann Welch (Joe).
Pallbearers were Brandt Walker and Allen Flynt.
Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee was in charge of arrangements.
