Old Glory Relay to be Monticello Friday and Saturday

Team RWB, a a national movement showcasing the strength, grit, and commitment of American veterans in support of their well-being, will be passing through Monticello Friday with the Old Glory Relay.

Over 44 days that began May 25, thousands of supporters have united to walk, ruck, run, push, and cycle a single American flag from Washington, DC to The World Games in Birmingham, AL.

The flag will travel from Vicksburg to Monticello Friday and organizers plan to leave the National Guard Armory in Monticello about 7 a.m. Saturday, pass through downtown Monticello on their way, and arrive at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg by dark. Everyone is invited to come out and support the flag carriers along the route.

This year, the Relay will travel 3,100 miles

The purpose of Team RWB is to enrich the lives of veterans through physical and social activity. The organization, with Mississippi chapters in Jackson and on the Gulf Coast hosts social events and seeks ways to focus on health and wellness.
