Minnie (Mickey) Farnham
Minnie Lee (Mickey) Darden Farnham, 94, of Monticello, passed away April 11, 2022, in the Lawrence County Nursing Center. She was born on Aug. 20, 1927, in Smith County to Alma Ellen (Warren) and Levi Jasper Darden. A funeral service was held April 14 at Monticello United Methodist Church, with a graveside service following at Monticello City Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Mrs. Minnie (Mickey) was a native of rural Smith County, known as Sullivan’s Hollow. After her marriage, she lived in Fort Knox, Ky.; Biloxi; and Lexington and Fort Thomas, Ky., while her husband was in the military; and in Taylorsville and Bay St. Louis before settling in Monticello in 1966 where she lived for over 50 years. She was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church. In her 40s, returned to school and graduated from the Copiah-Lincoln LPN program. She worked at Lawrence County Hospital, Cross Gates Nursing Center, and retired from Lawrence County Nursing Center at the age of 70. She loved working in her yard and was a regular at the Lawrence County Senior Center, where she loved seeing her friends and working on puzzles. She had many friends at work, church, and the community, and loved them all.
Survivors include her children, Jan (Larry) Williamson, of Sontag; Wilson Jr. (Shirley) Farnham, of Sontag; Ellen (Charles) Bullock, of Silver Creek; Jeff (Sandy) Farnham, of Silver Creek; and Kim Tynes, of Monticello. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson E. Farnham Sr.; her parents; two sisters, Myrtle Clanton and Timmie (Tom) Darden; and two brothers, Jacob David (JD) and Walter L. (Jim) Darden. She was also preceded by her grandson, Cliff Tynes.
