Steve D. Cliburn
Steve D. Cliburn, 82, of Silver Creek, passed away Feb. 9, 2022. He was born March 24, 1939, in Terry to Steve and Linnie Sullivan Cliburn.
Graveside services were held at Cliburn Cemetery in Silver Creek on Feb. 12. Wilson Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Mr. Cliburn was a member of Seed Sowers Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the Mississippi National Guard, and was employed at Georgia-Pacific for 31 years. A memory that he always treasured was being able to travel to the land of Israel on two different occasions and walk where Jesus walked. Steve also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, gardening, and working on his farm and in his shop. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by Bertha Cliburn, his wife of 57 years; and his daughter, Carmen Elizabeth Cliburn, both of Silver Creek. He also leaves behind one granddaughter, Estelle Anna Cliburn; three sisters-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and by his daughter, Tracy L. Cliburn. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth E. Cliburn, Herman D. Cliburn, and Melvin Burl Cliburn.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the VA Home Based Primary Care and Compassus Hospice Ministries for their excellent care at the end of his life.
