Jesse Earl Ross Jr.
Funeral services were held Jan. 27, 2022, at China Lee Baptist Church, Silver Creek, for Jesse Earl Ross Jr., 67, who died Jan. 15 at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital, Prentiss. Rev. Jerry Earl officiated, with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ross was born in Pascagoula to the late Jessie Lee and Lottie Mae Shelton Ross. He began his education in the Jackson County System and continued his education at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, where he received an associate degree in mechanical engineering and drafting. He was employed by many jobs. His favorite was at Memorial Behavioral Health in Gulfport, where he served as senior counselor of the youth department. After retirement, he devoted his time to Alcoholics Anonymous, becoming district manager of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church, Pascagoula, where he and his brothers formed a gospel singing group, The Ross Boys. He later joined China Lee Baptist Church after moving back to Silver Creek. Mr. Ross was married to Johnis Ross.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Karen Ross, Delorse Ross McGowan, and Beverly Ann Daniels.
He is survived by his wife, Johnis Ross; grandson, Terrell Pulley, both of Biloxi; two sons, Jesse (Tavatha) Ross III, of Pascagoula; Anthony Ross, of Mobile, Ala.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles (Kathy) Ross, of Moss Point; Larry (Rose) Ross, of Wiggins; and Walter (Donna) Ross, of Prentiss; sister, Linda Stewart, of Decatur, Ga.; and many other relatives and friends.
