Gary Harvey

Funeral services for Thomas Gary Harvey Sr. were held Jan. 7, 2022, at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel. Rev. Tom Jackson, Rev. Richard Green, and Rev. Jimmy Harvey officiated. Mr. Harvey, 82, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord Jan. 4 at Lawrence County Nursing Home in Monticello. Saulters Moore Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Mr. Harvey was born on Sept. 7, 1939, in Prentiss to Thomas A. and Elizabeth Caroline Faler Harvey. Gary enjoyed watching sports, especially Duke basketball and Saints football. He and his beloved bride, Betty, enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Gary loved to fish for largemouth bass and bream, as well as hunt for squirrels in his younger years. In addition, he also owned and operated the NAPA Auto Parts store in Prentiss for over 30 years and was also a Mason. Gary was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church in Prentiss, where he served in various roles as Sunday school teacher, song leader, and also was a deacon.
Serving as pallbearers were Garrett Harvey, Pace Harvey, Scott Harvey, Wendell Albernathy, Jimmy Albernathy, and Calvin Albernathy. Honorary pallbearers were Phillip Herring, David Miller, and Tommy McCraw.
Mr. Harvey was preceded in death by his infant son, Charles Edward Harvey.
His memory will be cherished by his wife of 62 years, Betty Harvey, of Prentiss; his daughter, Pamela Harvey Wallace (George), of Columbia; his son, Thomas Gary Harvey Jr., of Prentiss; one brother, Jimmy Harvey, of Monticello; and one sister, Norma Williamson, of Prentiss. Mr. Harvey also leaves behind three grandchildren, Garrett Thomas Harvey, Courtney Jill Krug, Pace Blake Harvey; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Harvey and Garrison Harvey.
