Ora Lee Washington

A graveside service will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at Salem M.B. Church, 333 Price Road, Jayess, for Ora Lee Washington. Viewing will be held 10-11 a.m. at Ginn-Craft Funeral Home, 219 US-98, Tylertown.
Mrs. Washington passed away Sept. 22 at the age of 91. She was born March 1, 1930, to Sam and Zadie Smith and was affectionately know at “Pie.” She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior during early childhood at Salem Baptist Church. She received her education at Hope High School, where she met and married the lover of her life, Lewis Washington Sr. From this union, nine children were born.
She and her husband moved to Chicago in December 1953. A few years later, Mrs. Washington took a job at the U.S. Postal Service, where she worked until retirement in 1991. After retirement, the couple began traveling back and forth to California, Mississippi, and New Orleans, where close friends and family lived.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; grandson, Dion Howard; siblings; and a host of family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Annie, Lewis Jr., Waymon (Sandra), Joann, Naomi (Donald), Audrey (Eddie), Yolanda (Robert), Dewayne, and Anttwan; 25 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Washington also leaves her love and legacy to her extended family, the Turners and the Lewis/Howards.
