Torsha Buckley Taylor
Funeral services were held Sept. 12, 2021, at Ruby K. Johnson Chapel for Torsha Denise Buckley Taylor, 53, who died Sept. 5 at Lawrence County Hospital, Monticello. Rev. Alexander Norwood officiated, with interment following in Crossover Cemetery, Oakvale. Johnson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Mrs. Taylor was born to Theodore Daggins and Mamie Lee Buckley. She spent most of her life in Oakvale and was a member of St. James Baptist Church. Mrs. Taylor attended school in Lawrence County. She was last employed by Gulf Coast Mental Health in Gulfport, where she was a dietary supervisor until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her father; a son, Antonio McClendon; and son-in-law, Taurus Hill.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Taylor, of Silver Creek; mother, Mamie Lee Buckley, of Oakvale; children, Katrasha McClendon Hill, of Prentiss; Antonio McClendon Sr., of Gulfport; stepchildren, Nicole Taylor, Lorisa Taylor, Lornezo Taylor, and Antoinette Daniels; five grandchildren; siblings, Cora Smith, Evelyn Hammond, Evira Washington, Leevira Brooks, James Buckley, Lee (Angie) Buckley, Joe Dale Buckley, Odell Buckley, Micheal (Candance) Buckley, Roosevelt Daggins, and Albert Daggins; and many other relatives and friends.
