Monticello Church of Christ has postponed the Gospel Revival scheduled for Oct. 10-12 due to the large amount of COVID cases and concerns.
Sept. 9
Mississippi State University Extension Service will offer a “Quick Bites” program via Zoom entitled “Pond Alkalinity/Water Management 101” from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9. The program will be hosted by Ross Overstreet, Lamar County Extension agent. Maintaining optimal water quality is an extremely important step in producing a productive fishery for recreation. This program is intended to cover basic water quality management techniques once a pond has been constructed, including how/where to have water sampled. Sept. 13
The Lawrence County Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 13 at the Lawrence County Civic Center in Monticello. The program will feature “Roses in Mississippi,” presented by Art Wade of Rose Petals Nursery, from Newberry, Fla. The regular business meeting will take place afterward. All interested in Lawrence County history are welcomed.

Mississippi State University Extension Service will offer a “Quick Bites” program via Zoom entitled “Being Active” from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23. The program will be hosted by Madison Payne, Office of Nutrition Education, Coastal R&E Center. Looking for some ways to get the whole family active and moving? Learn some fun, easy exercises to get 20 minutes of physical activity with “Aim for 20” that can be done almost anywhere. Discussion will also include family-friendly “Quick and Easy Snack Ideas” that are great before or after physical activity, to fuel our bodies, especially with on-the-go busy schedules. Topeka Tilton Outreach Mission, 779 China Grove Rd., Jayess, serves USDA non-perishable food items from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the first and second Saturday of each month. Application must be completed for eligibility to receive said food.
