Carolyn Marie Gardner

Graveside services were held Aug. 28, 2021, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, New Hebron, for Carolyn Marie Feazell Gardner, 71, who died Aug. 21 at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg. Rev. Eric Dixson officiated, with Johnson Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Gardner was born to the late Melvin and Aree Feazell Gardner. She accepted Christ at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. C. J. Stephenson, where she was a member of the choir. She later joined Metropolitan Baptist Church in Jennings, Mo. After returning to Mississippi, she united with Oak Ridge Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health declined.
Mrs. Gardner received her education at New Hymn High School, Class of 1967. After graduation, she attended Prentiss Institute. She relocated St. Louis, Mo., and began working at BellSouth Telephone Company, and later worked at AT&T, from which she retired. Mrs. Gardner’s retirement was short-lived as she began working as a home health care provider and later retired.
Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Gardner; sister, Rita Holliday; and brother, James Gardner Jr.
She is survived by a son, Timothy (Sherrina) Gardner; two grandsons, Trevaughn (Crystal) and Te’Shon Gardner; siblings, Mary Feazell, of Detroit, Mich.; Calvin (Carol) Longino, Marcus (Pamela) Feazell, Curtis (Edell) Feazell, Gwendolyn (Frank) Harper, all of New Hebron; Deborah (Darnell) Thompson, of Pascagoula; Vina (Calvin) Bowman, of Jackson; Percilla (Johnny) Walker, Scott Gardner, Arlicia (Undray) Gardner, Derrick (Stephanie) Gardner, all of Prentiss; Keith (LaShawn) Gardner, of Gulfport; Sherrell (Chris) Turner, of Mendenhall; and many other relatives and friends.
