James “Damon” Baldwin
James “Damon” Baldwin was born Aug. 22, 1977, to James (Jimmy) and Gail Sumrall Baldwin. Damon took the angel’s hand and went to live with Jesus on Aug. 15, 2021. During Damon’s time here with us, he loved life and people to the fullest. He especially loved his family and those close friends that were like family to him and his parents. He loved animals of all kinds and taking long rides. He especially enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends.
Damon is not only survived by his parents but also by his sisters, Geralyn Russell (Brandon), of Brookhaven; and Kail Garrett (Joshua), of Monticello; along with four nephews, Wyatt, Walker, and Beau Garrett, and Dalton Russell; and one niece, Abigail Russell. He is also survived by his grandparents, Gerald and Peggy Sumrall, of Monticello; and Bobbie Baldwin, of Mendenhall; and the late H. N. Baldwin, of Mendenhall. He will be missed by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from all over the South who loved him dearly.
A funeral service was held Aug. 18 at Bethel Baptist Church. Graveside services will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Should friends desire, contributions in Damon’s memory may be sent to Bethel Baptist Church’s Playground Project or to Copiah-Lincoln Community College for a memorial scholarship.
