Georgia-Pacific supports Mississippi Envirothon competition
Georgia-Pacific Monticello recently donated $4,000 to support the Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission’s Envirothon competition.
The funds are used for outreach, area and state competitions, and the advancement of one team to the 2021 National Conservation Foundation Envirothon in Lincoln, Nebraska. Oxford High School represented Mississippi at the national event.
“With sincere gratitude, we thank GP for its support of the Mississippi Envirothon program,” said Chelsey Gazaway, Envirothon coordinator. “The Mississippi Envirothon is an exciting and challenging competition for Mississippi’s high school students, which is made possible because of Georgia-Pacific Monticello’s commitment to the protection of our environment and natural resources.”
The Envirothon program is a hands-on natural resources competition designed to challenge high school students to explore the natural world around them. The event tests students in several environmental categories, including forestry, soils, and wildlife.
