Carolyn Jean Oliver Watson

Carolyn Jean Oliver Watson, born Nov. 26, 1939, passed away Aug. 7, 2021, due to complications of COVID. She was born in Monticello and resided in Ethel, La.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Carol Watson Uzee (wife to Rene Uzee), Lisa Watson Shaffer (wife to Joseph Shaffer); and son, Henry Albert Watson Jr. (husband to Penny Brou); 10 grandchildren, Leslie Carol Matte, Crystal Lane Matte Elam (wife to Matthew Elam), Jamey Bachman, Joseph Shaffer Jr., Jared Mitchell Shaffer, Ashlyn Brooke Watson Kaiser (wife to Josh Kaiser), Henry A. Watson III, Joshua David Stelly, Mackenzie Claire Stelly, and Madison Paige Stelly; four great-grandchildren, Cassie Lane Fudge, Camryn Leigh Sibley, Mason Michael Elam, and Greyson Oliver Kaiser; her longtime friend and companion, Orethea Wright; and her puppy, Max, in addition to numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Albert Watson Sr.; son, Leslie Chris Watson; parents, Theresa and Leslie Oliver, both of Monticello; brothers, Ken, Harrold, and Kenneth Oliver; and sisters, Evelyn May and Laverne Magee.
She will be remembered for her love towards animals, having rescued and cared for dozens upon dozens throughout her life. She was a contributor of Must Luv Dogs Rescue.
She was gracious, grateful, and caring to all who met her, but it was her deep love for her family that will be held close to our hearts.
Those who were blessed to call her a friend realized her deep faith, love of God, and how she shared His word.
A daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and devoted friend to many, Carolyn Jean Oliver Watson, you will forever rest deep in our hearts.
Pallbearers were Henry Albert Watson III, Joseph Floyd Shaffer Jr., Jared Mitchell Shaffer, Matthew Michael Elam, Christopher LaVelle Sibley, and Michael Dean Bush.
A funeral service was held Aug. 11 at Ethel Baptist Church in Ethel La., conducted by Bro. Ed Jelks followed by private graveside services at The Watson Family Cemetery.
