Edith McDuffey

Funeral services were held June 17, 2021, at North Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, New Hebron, for Edith McDuffey, 71, who died June 11 at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg. Rev. Moses Johnson officiated, with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Mrs. McDuffey was born to the late Willie James and Everlena Young Rhodes. She was the third child of 13 children. She was a member of North Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she served as a member of choir, missions, Sunday school, food pantry coordinator, chairlady of the kitchen committee, team leader director, and youth choir sponsor.
Mrs. McDuffey attended school at Cherry Hill and McCullough High, and worked at Kellwood Manufacturing Company for 29 years. She was married to the late Johnnie B. McDuffey for 50 years until his death in March 2021.
She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Asya Maye; siblings, James E. Rhodes, Timothy Rhodes, and Perlean Bennett; and sister-in-law, Sharon Rhodes.
She is survived by three daughters, Arlend (Keith) Maye, Victoria (Jamie) Hannah, and Johnnie (Darren) May; son, Marvin McDuffey; three grandchildren, Amber, Skylar, and Quintin Hannah; eight siblings, Evanglist (Lartha) Rhodes, Queen E. (Carl) Pittman, Edell (Curtis) Feazell, Evelyn (James) McDuffey, Debbie R. Jasper, Mirrett Rhodes, Michael Rhodes, and Richard Rhodes; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; godchildren, Steven (Jaquita) Jasper and Jamila (Henry) Rawls; and many other relatives and friends.
