Alsa Edward Foster

Alsa Edward Foster, 88, of New Hebron, passed away peacefully in his home on June 12, 2021. Alsa was a member of Old Hebron Baptist Church, and he is survived by his loving wife, Sue Foster, of New Hebron; daughter, Laurrel Foster, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; son, Gene Foster and wife Debbie, of Canyon Lake, Texas; son, Jeff Foster and wife Patsy, of Davie, Fla.; son, Greg Foster and wife Cassy, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; stepdaughters, Glenda Butler and husband Jimmy, of New Hebron; Jane Marsh and husband Mac, of Madison; and Cheri Buckley, of New Hebron; five grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Alsa is also survived by brothers, Paul J. Foster and wife Patricia, of Pinola; Joe R. Foster and wife Brenda, of Florence; and Larry G. Foster and wife Paulette, of Silver Creek; brother-in-law, Jimmy Riley and wife Kitty, of Clinton; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Bryan, of New Hebron; Louise Lane, of Clinton; Judy Tow and husband John, of Lake Zurich, Ill.; brother-in-law, Nick Julian, of Naples, Fla.; and many loving nieces and nephews. Alsa is preceded in death by his parents, A.A. and Beulah Foster; sister, Louise Martin; daughter, Michan Milligan; and first wife, Shirley Foster.
Alsa was born on April 3,1933, in Simpson County and upon his graduation from high school in 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After serving in the Navy as a disbursing clerk, Alsa transitioned into the Air Force where he finished his military career, serving in accounting and finance. Alsa was a veteran of both Korea and Vietnam and after being honorably discharged in 1973, he served in various capacities of employment in different locations before settling in his beloved home state of Mississippi in 2006, shortly after the passing of his first wife, Shirley. Alsa married Sue Morris, of New Hebron, at that time, and they spent many happy years together as husband and wife. He loved to have fun playing dominoes with friends and family, and he thoroughly enjoyed time spent with friends and family as well.
Alsa’s funeral was held June 16 at Old Hebron Baptist Church, with Pastor Micah Rutland officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery in Shivers. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled arrangements.
