Simon Peter Lewis

Simon Peter Lewis, 79, of Jayess, passed away at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg on May 11, 2021. A private funeral service for his family will be held in the Mount Hermon Cemetery. Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton, La., is handling arrangements.
Simon was a former longtime resident of Washington Parish, La., where he owned Itasco and served as a manager for Lacox, Inc. He was currently the owner/operator of Topeka Grocery and Hardware in Jayess. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Simon loved reading old western novels and collecting antique toy cars and other items. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Jean Smith Lewis; and parents John Allen Lewis Sr. and Mary Brooks Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Linda D. Lewis, of Jayess; daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Tim Viola, of Jayess; stepson and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Susie Viola, of Independence, La.; grandchildren and spouses, Simon Viola, Nicholas Viola, Vincent Viola, Dominic Viola, Jennie and Judd Owens, Angelica Viola, Timmy and Teryn Viola, Misty Viola, Jamie Sue Viola; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rodney and Cynthia Lewis, of Andalusia, Ala.; John and Barbara Lewis, of Franklinton, La.; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Monroe Duncan, of Mount Hermon, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
