Jimmy Selman

James Ashley “Jimmy” Selman, 69, of Monticello, passed away May 12, 2021, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Jimmy was born Jan. 3, 1952, in Brookhaven to Eldon and Dorothy Selman.
Jimmy was a farmer of 51 years. He followed the footsteps of generations of Selmans before him. Jimmy enjoyed reading about farming, tractors, and all things related to agriculture. He was also vice chairperson of Lawrence County Farm Services Committee. He had a love for animals, especially dogs. Jimmy was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and generous friend to anyone in need. He was a true Southern gentleman.
Jimmy is survived by one son, Ashley Selman; one daughter, Jane Belle Tullis; two step-children, son Dylan Lea and daughter Rachel Lea Jergins; one brother, Bobby Selman; one sister, Sally Moss; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Beth Selman.
Those preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Tedra Hoskins Selman; nephew, Justin Smith; and friend, Marco Roberson.
Services were held May 15 at Selman Farms Cemetery, 436 Old Highway 27 N., Monticello. Kenneth Roberts officiated, with Wilson Funeral Home handling arrangements.
