Jewan Kirkland, 69, of Monticello, passed away April 12, 2021, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. Jewan was born Jan. 6, 1952, in Tylertown to Amel and Willie Mae Hammond.
A funeral service was held April 16 at Sauls Valley Baptist Church in Monticello, with graveside following in Sauls Valley Cemetery. Bro. Lonnie Case officiated, Wilson Funeral Home handling arrangements.
Jewan was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a kind-hearted woman who enjoyed caring and providing for others, especially close friends and family. Jewan enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Sauls Valley Baptist Church in Monticello. Jewan will be missed by everyone.
Jewan is survived by her children: sons, Tyson Kirkland (Casey), of Brookhaven; Wayne Kirkland (Tina), of Monticello; and daughter, Tiffney Barnes, of Monticello; eight grandchildren, Tyler Davis, Trey Kirkland, Maddux Kirkland, Alissa Barnes, Ava Kirkland, Jake Kirkland, Hadley Davis, and Hudson Davis; one great-grandchild, Haven White; one sister, Peggy Harvey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Curtis Kirkland.
