Ladonna Machell Haynes

Funeral services were held April 5, 2021, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel for Ladonna Machell Haynes, 55, who died March 30 at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg. Dr. Scott Hanberry officiated, with interment following in Rose Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Silver Creek. Johnson Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Miss Haynes was born to Ellis and Vivian Haynes in Lawrence County. She received her formal education at Monticello High School with the graduating class of 1983. After graduation, she attended Hinds Community College, where she received an Associate Degree in applied science in business technology. She continued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she received a Bachelor of Science in business education. Miss Haynes was employed at USM for 25 years; later retiring and began working at William Carey University.
Miss Haynes was baptized at Rose Hill Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on many committees. After relocating to Hattiesburg, she united with Hardy Street Baptist Church, where she also served on several committees until her death. She had a passion for working and helping the youth start their career.
She was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, Ado and Rubie Randolph; and maternal grandparents, Ike and Julia Thompson.
She is survived by a sister, Cathy Griffith, of Silver Creek; niece, Demonica Griffith, of Monticello; nephew, Ivan Haynes, of Clarksville, Tenn.; great-niece, Alexis Griffith; adopted brother, Eugene (Emily) Thompson, of Hattiesburg; and many other relatives and friends.
