Vincent E. Myers
Vincent E. Myers, 56, passed away Feb. 12, 2021. A funeral service was held Feb. 20 at South Spring Hill Baptist Church in Monticello, with burial in the church cemetery. Bishop De’Sean Toler officiated, with Washington Funeral Home handling arrangements.
Vincent was born July 30, 1964, in Hattiesburg to the late Albert Cobb and Doris E. Myers Gary. He was a 1982 graduate of Runnelstown High School, where he was an all-district football player. After high school, he enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard, where he served for 10 years. He was a bus driver for the Lawrence County School District.
In 2009, Vincent hearkened to the call of God and preached his first sermon at China Lee M.B. Church. He later united with South Spring Hill Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher, member of the transportation ministry, the men’s league, and was instrumental in organizing the food pantry ministry.
Survivors include his wife, Parlean May Myers; daughters, Pernesia Myers and Vanesha Myers, both of Jayess; son, Tristan “Jeremiah,” of Jayess; one granddaughter; sisters, Debbie Walker, of Eastabuchie; Twana Gary, of Richton; and a brother, Tony Norwood, of Hattiesburg.
