Morris A. Mikell
Funeral services were held Jan. 30, 2021, at Quinn Temple Church of God in Christ, Monticello, for Morris Adam Mikell, 52, who died Jan. 23 at Merit Health River Oaks Hospital, Flowood. Elder Lonnie Lenoir officiated, with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Mr. Mikell was born to the late Elder Oscar and Mother Margaret Mikell in Monticello, where he remained throughout his adult life. He attended school in Monticello and was a 1987 graduate of Monticello High School. He was a member of Quinn’s Temple Church of God in Christ and later moved his membership to Coleman Chapel Church of God in Christ, Silver Creek, where his father pastored. He was a musician at Coleman Chapel Church of God in Christ and Holiness Church of God in Christ, Silver Creek. Mr. Morris’ occupations involved contracting for home remodeling, automobile mechanic, and a builder of automobile speakers.
He is survived by his spouse, Felicia Mikell; daughter, Marissa Mikell, of Byram; two sons, Isiah Mikell and Zachary Mikell, both of Byram; stepson, Marcus Kees, of Monticello; stepdaughter, Shayla Kees, of Monticello; three brothers, James Bridges, of Monticello; Stanley Bridges, of Summit; and Steve (Tara) Mikell, of Odessa, Texas; seven sisters, Sheila Cooper, Margartet Brown, Rita Davis, Sundria (Willie) Harness, Othella (JoLane) Magee, and Juan Ford, all of Monticello; and Phebe (Micheal) Thomas, of Hattiesburg; and many other relatives and friends.
