4-H Disease Detectives Project offered to area youth
Intrigued by the microscopic viruses that have spread across our planet? Want to test your investigative skills? Interested in epidemiology (how we can track and prevent the spread of germs and diseases)? Join the virtual Disease Detectives: Operation Outbreak project. Any youth interested in medicine, health, veterinary sciences, communications, or marketing should join.
The 4-H Disease Detectives Project will teach about disease outbreaks, virus transmissions, public health investigations and how protective actions like hand washing, wearing masks, vaccinations, and herd immunity help manage negative public health outcomes. This project is designed for youth ages 12-18 years old.
The project includes four weekly hour-long virtual zoom sessions that begin Feb. 9 and end March 2. A video and internet connection is required. Participants will receive a Junior Disease Detective Kit, and registration is required.
For more information and to register, contact Latonya Ramsey at latonya.ramsey@msstate.edu or 601-792-5121. Registration deadling is Jan. 29.
