James Robert (Jimmy) Thomas

James Robert (Jimmy) Thomas left this life to join his wife, Barbara, on Jan. 6, 2021. He was born May 18, 1934, in Jacksonville, Fla. He attended Andrew Jackson High School. James was a long timber power plant operator for St. Regis Paper Co. and for Georgia-Pacific. James moved his family to Monticello in 1967 and retired to Pensacola, Fla., in 1996. His passing marks the end of his long struggle with many health issues due to the complications of diabetes and a recent stroke.
He is survived by his children, Jim, Claudia, Liz; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Audrey Duryea.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Mainor Thomas; infant daughter, Rebecca Ann; father, Marion Byars Thomas; mother, Wincie Sloan Thomas; brothers, Byars and Jerry Thomas; and sister, Geraldine Pendzick.
