Billy Ray was born June 9, 1934, in Tilton, to Winnfield Scott and Mattie Pevey Sauls. Mr. Sauls was a proud Marine and served in the United States Marine Corp from 1953 until 1957 during the Korean War. Before receiving his honorable discharge, he was a field radio operator; he received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
During his twilight years, Paw Billy’s grandchildren were the absolute light of his life. He looked forward to their visits and got a kick out of their antics. He loved to hear all about their adventures and always had plenty of advice to offer.

Billy Ray is survived by his daughter, Amy Sauls Fredette and husband Jamie, of Jayess; son, Will Sauls; grandchildren, Troy Fredette, Jamie Claire Fredette, Luke Fredette, Isabella Killingsworth, and Skylar Russell; and one sister, Dorothy Jean Martin, of Beaumont, Texas.
