Monticello Christmas Plans

Tree lighting ceremony to be held Friday, Dec. 4

Plans are underway for an inaugural Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony to be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 at the Lawrence County Civic Center in Monticello.
At the event, the Christmas story from the Bible will be told by Pastor Jay Thompson of New Life Church in Monticello. Christmas carols will be sung, and there will be several other festivities taking place.
Hot cocoa and treats will be served by New Life concessions, with all proceeds going to the Bread of Life Food Pantry.

Monticello Christmas parade set for Dec. 5

The Monticello Christmas parade will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. The theme for this year is “A Different Kind of Christmas.”
Entry forms are available for pickup at the Lawrence County Courthouse, Plain and Fanci, and Monticello City Hall. Entry deadline is Thursday, Dec. 3.
