Walter Lee Tynes

Funeral services for Walter Lee Tynes, 86, of Jayess, were held on Oct. 11, 2020, at Sartinville United Methodist Church, with Bro. Jim Bradford and Bro. Dan Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Sartinville Cemetery. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Pallbearers were Jim Speaks, Phillip Langston, Mike Dupree, David Arceneaux, Ken Ainsworth, Lynn Harvey, Levi Tynes, and Landon Tynes.
Honorary pallbearers were Clay Hebert, Justin Hebert, and Zach Spann.
Mr. Tynes passed away at Forrest General Hospital on Oct. 8. He was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Lawrence County, to Ether and James Tynes. He was a longtime member of Sartinville United Methodist and was also a member of the 4th district fire department. Mr. Tynes enjoyed playing basketball, softball, working with his cattle, woodworking, gardening, mowing not only his yard but others as well, and helping out neighbors as needed. He had a kind heart and was willing to do anything he could to help someone out. The outdoors is where you could find him most of the time. Mr. Tynes was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents: wife, Elaine Tynes; grandson, Derek Spann; sisters, Vena Bearden, Evelyn Dyer; Christine Bennett, and Sally Brumfield; brothers, James Tynes and William Ray Tynes; half-sister, Gertrude Craft; and half-brothers, B.O. Tynes, Cecil Tynes, C.J. Tynes, and Claude Tynes.
Survivors include his children, Bonita Tynes, Duane (Kim) Tynes, and Nancy Tynes; grandchildren, Clay Hebert, Justin Hebert, Zach (Meagan) Spann; great-grandchildren, Cooper Spann, Ellie Spann, and Lillian Spann; brother, Dale Tynes; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sartinville United Methodist Church.
