Shelton King

Shelton King, 72, of Silver Creek, passed away on Oct. 9, 2020, at his residence in Silver Creek. Shelton was born June 4, 1948, in Monticello, to Dew Laney and Bernice Ward King.
A funeral service was held Oct. 11 at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello. Graveside services followed at Cliburn Cemetery in New Hebron. Wilson Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Shelton was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a kind-hearted man who enjoyed helping others, such as helping with the building of Shalom Baptist Church. He was avid fisherman and hunter, and served in the National Guard.
Those preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Betty Barnett King; sister, Merle Deese; nephew, Dewayne Deese; and daughters, Dana Dickerson and Darla Berard.
Shelton is survived by his son, Kenny Bullock (Becky); brothers, Coyle King (Nora), Lynn King (Nay); nine grandchildren, Lyle Berard (Hollie), Logan Berard (Danille), Cody Burrow (Shyanne), Dillon Berard, Garrett Dickerson, Gage Cupstid, Alyssa Cupstid, Savanah King, Blaze King; two great-grandchildren, Bentley Burrow and Jasmine Dickerson; and two sons-in-law, Derrick Dickerson and Daniel Berard.
His family would like to express thanks to Kim Montet for being there for Shelton and helping him during his time of need.
