Delma Thornhill

Delma Thornhill, 82, of Monticello, passed away Sept. 25, 2020, at Southwest Mississippi Medical Center in McComb. A funeral service was held Sept. 27 at Powell’s Grove United Pentecostal Church in Jayess, with graveside services following in the church cemetery. Bro. Glenn Hilton, Bro. Ronnie Turner, and Bro. David Clark officiated, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Delma was born Oct. 28, 1937, in Tylertown, to Paul Lee and Buena Mae Burnett Thornhill. Delma was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he loved his family. Powell’s Grove United Pentecostal Church family was also loved by him. Delma owned and operated the Snack Shack for many years, and people loved to go get his snowballs, peanuts, and cracklings; not to forget the fingers he saved by shelling peas for people. He had many friends who came by the store to visit and tell tales.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Thornhill is survived by his wife, Edna McNease Thornhill; daughter, Belinda Thornhill; son, Garry Thornhill (Karole); three grandchildren, Dana Thornhill Stone (Jason), Megan Thornhill, Carlie Davis (Caleb); three great-grandchildren, Emily Hux, Caleb Hux, Aubrey Davis; and two brothers, Paul Thornhill and Tommy Ray Thornhill.
