Buford Howell Jr.
Buford Howell Jr., 75, of Jayess, passed away Aug. 22, 2020, at his son’s residence in Jayess. Graveside services were held Aug. 25 at Powell’s Grove Pentecostal Church Cemetery. Bro. Scott Johnson officiated, with Wilson Funeral Home handling arrangements.
Buford was born Dec. 22, 1944, in Jayess, to Buford Howell Sr. and Christine Coon Howell. He was retired from the construction industry as a boilermaker, Local #110 for 29 years. He also owned and operated his dairy farm, worked as a carpenter, and later opened Howell’s Pecan Barn. He loved spending time with his family. He was always glad to lend a hand and help out a neighbor.
Those preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Larry Howell and Joe Howell.
Buford is survived by his wife of 55 years, Georgia Fay Howell, of Jayess; sons, Brad and Renea Howell, of Byram; Eric and Dana Howell, of Jayess; and Keith and Amanda Howell, of Jayess; six grandchildren, Evan Howell, Alex Howell, Dylan Howell, Kelton Howell, Ashlyn Howell, and Preston Howell; two brothers, Jerry Howell and James Howell (Dorothy); three sisters, Betty King, Mary Lou Lambert, and Ruby Roberts (Gary); also numerous nieces and nephews.
