Helen Wayne Douglas
Helen Wayne Douglas, 86, of Sontag, passed away July 23, 2020, at Lawrence County Nursing Center in Monticello. Graveside services were held July 25 at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Sontag. Bro. Richard Green and Bro. Jimmy Smith Jr. officiated with Wilson Funeral Home handling arrangements.
Helen was born August 21, 1933, in Clarksville, Tenn., to Thomas Jefferson and Ethel Nicholson Sanders. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a kind-hearted woman who enjoyed gardening, cooking, caring, and providing for others. She was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Sontag for over 60 years. Helen enjoyed writing the “Sontag News” for over 25 years. She was a devout Christian woman, who being strong in her faith witnessed to all.
Those preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Oscar Douglas; son, Ronnie Douglas; son-in-law, George Foggle; and four brothers, Larry, Clayton, Jesse, and Dale.
Helen is survived by her children, Donald Douglas (Sheila), of Drummonds, Tenn.; Pamela Douglas Foggle, of Ruth; Kevin Douglas (Pam), of Sontag; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Woody and Billy; one sister, Grace; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund (P.O. Box 166, Sontag, MS 39665).
