Arthur H. King
Funeral services for Arthur H. King were held July 6, 2020, at New Hope Baptist Church in Monticello, with burial following in the church cemetery. Bro. Kevin Crosier officiated with Wilson Funeral Home handling arrangements.
Mr. King, 95, of Monticello, passed from this life on July 2 at the Aspen of Brookhaven Living Center. He was born on June 15, 1925, in the Center Community, Monticello, to William Elisha and Maggie Ballard King.
Mr. Arthur served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart and Good Conduct medals. After he returned from service, he went to Co-Lin Junior College. He began a career as a chemist and started working for the Good Year Company in 1956 until retirement in 1985. When retiring, he moved back to his home in Lawrence County, where he began to be an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Fay Lambert, Tera Griffith; and brothers, Dewey, Clell, and Elzen King.
Survivors are his son, James King; daughter, Peggy Bennett and husband, Michael Sr.; five grandchildren, Michael Bennett Jr., Jeff King, Karen King, Tammy and husband, Terry Fredrick; the Fredrick children and grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Sophia King, J.D. West, Kayla West and Dennis Jr., Haley Bennett, Michael Bennett III; three great-great-grandchildren, Laylah, S.J., and Dennis III; one sister, Ruth Smith; one brother, Carl King; and numerous nieces and nephews.
