WARD ONE BEAUTIFICATION EFFORT

WARD ONE BEAUTIFICATION EFFORT – Monticello Alderman Donald Walters looks at one of the recently-placed signs in Ward One that helps accentuate efforts to make improvements in the area. Walters, who is in his second term as alderman, began working to improve the area toward the end of his first term. After looking for ways to improve the ward, he began an effort to place plants along the roadways. The effort drew positive comments and more participation. Recently, with the help of Mayor Martha Watts, Walters was able to add signs that reflect his campaign slogan, “Community First.” His next goal is to clear drainage along the railroad tracks and continue to improve the area along Western Avenue. Walters’ efforts can also be seen near the National Guard Armory off of Old Highway 27 near Highway 84.
