Edgar (Eddie) Lamar Carter

Edgar (Eddie) Lamar Carter, 80, died March 4, 2020, after an extended illness, with his family by his side in Monticello, Miss.
Mr. Carter was born July 31, 1939, in Waycross Ga., to Edmond and Mary Lee (Henderson) Carter. He graduated from Wacona High School and the University of Florida Forest Ranger School in Lake City, Fla. After graduation and a brief stint in the US Army, he had a successful career in the timber industry, including Carter Wood Inc., Franklin Timber Company, and Bude Timber Company. He immensely enjoyed being in the outdoors (hunting, fishing, running), and working in the timber industry for 50 years.
Mr. Carter was an active member of Monticello United Methodist Church, where he served on numerous committees and served as Sunday School Secretary for 40 years.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Ready) Carter; sons, John Edmond (Chip) Carter and wife Jill Charmaine, of Ruth, Jesse Webb Carter and wife Lori of Auburn, Ala.; five grandchildren, Austin, Roman, Dylan, Jackson, and London Carter; sister, Mary Carter Brown of McDonough, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Mary Lee Carter; and brother, Edmond Stanley Carter, of Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral services were held at Monticello United Methodist Church on Friday, March 6.
Pallbearers for the service were Bill Ready, Damond Ready, Clay Ready, Jeremy Peacock, Clint Rounsville, and Mark Parker.
