Glenn Walker Powell
Glenn Walker Powell, 67, of Monticello, went to be with his Lord on December 15, 2019, at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 15, 1952 to Ezra “Lloyd” Powell and Catherine Walker Powell of Monticello.
He worked at Georgia Pacific Monticello Mill for 39 years, where he retired as a UCC foreman. During his time there, he enjoyed meeting and working with many people that became lifelong friends.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Glenn was a doting husband, father and grandfather.
He enjoyed tinkering on things in his shop, watching car races, and going to car shows with the Tri-County Car Club, but most of all spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a great-nephew, Lindsey Lang.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cindy Bratton Powell; sons, Bradley Powell and wife, Janet, of Starkville, and Zack Powell and wife, Heather, of Silver Creek, and daughter, Brittany Myers and husband, Chad, of Brandon.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bailey Powell of Starkville, and AnnaKate Powell, Maeley Powell and Karli Powell of Silver Creek; sister, Carolyn Lang and husband, Robert, of Monticello, and brother, Keith Powell and wife, Shelia, of Monticello, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored him.
Services were held Wednesday, December 18, at Bethel Baptist Church in Monticello, with graveside services following in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Philip Alford and Bro. Michael Smith officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
