Shirley Ann Reid Neal

Ms. Shirley Ann Reid Neal, 82, of Monticello passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Lawrence County Nursing Center surrounded by her loved ones. Ms. Shirley was born December 2, 1937, in Monticello to Robert Clem and Flora Lois Miller Reid.
Ms. Shirley was an employee of many different positions at Kellwood Company in Monticello for over 40 years. She lived primarily in Brookhaven with her husband, Hugh Lee Neal, of 52 years until his death in 2008. She chaperoned many school field trips for her son and his classmates as well as worked the concession stand at Little League baseball games. She was devoted to her family including special cousins and nephews.
She is survived by her son, F. Lee Neal, and wife, Gretchen Brown Neal of Brookhaven; most proudly her “boys”, four Neal grandsons- Fulton Harris and Ford Reid of Birmingham, Alabama, and Fitzhugh Hulon and Finley McAllister of Broohaven; a brother, J. Wayne Reid of Pearl; special cousins, Everett Harvey of Gautier and Charlotte Johnson of Monticello, and nephews, Keith Case of Needville, Texas and Greg Case and Amp Case of Monticello. She is also survived by other family members and friends.
Those preceding her in death were her husband, Fitzhugh “Hugh” Lee Neal Sr.; her parents, and sister, Maxie Pearl Case of Monticello.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Monticello Municipal Cemetery immediately following visitation at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, nephew and Honorary Pallbearer Hayes Allen Jordan of Brookhaven.
