Lawrence J. “Larry” Dickson

Mr. Lawrence J. “Larry” Dickson, 65, of Monticello, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Lawrence County Nursing Center in Monticello. He was born September 3, 1954, in Brookhaven to Lawrence B. and Joan Cox Dickson.
Services were held Monday, November 4, 2019, at Bethel Baptist Church in Monticello with no graveside services. He was buried in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Bill Miller and Bro. Ted Bowlin officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Larry fulfilled a lifelong ambition to be an over the road 18 wheel truck driver. He had an amazing memory of all the cities and states that he delivered freight to. He also had a good memory of his first twelve years of life traveling in the United States with his mother and dad in the construction business. In 2016 because of poor health, Larry moved home to live with his dad and help operate the golf course. He enjoyed taking his great niece and great nephew riding around the course on his golf cart. He made lots of friends with the members of Swan Lake. He would get up at 6:00 a.m. and leave for dialysis treatment so that he could be back in time to visit with his golfer friends. No doubt he will be looking forward to visiting with friends and family where time is no problem.
He is survived by his father, Lawrence B. Dickson; brother Scott, and wife, Ramona Dickson; niece, Sara Reynolds, and nephew, Clay Dickson.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Joan Cox Dickson, and one sister, Cynthia McNeill.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
