Henry Calvin Mackey
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Silver Creek for Mr. Henry Calvin Mackey, 71, who died Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. Rev. Eskria Rhodes officiated, with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Henry C. Mackey was born to the late Ambus and Eula Mae Copeland Mackey. He graduated from McCollough High School and enlisted into the United States Army. He received three Purple Hearts and many other medals while serving his country. He was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove M.B. Church, where he served as Superintendent, Sunday School teacher and trustee.
Mr. Mackey retired from Georgia Pacific in 2006 after serving in several positions, including Fire and Safety Technician. He was married to Patricia Ann Expose. Three children were added to this union, and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tasha N. Mackey, and siblings, Burnell Mackey, Mae Bennett and Rose Mackey Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Mackey; children, Damon Mackey and Brandi N. Mackey; niece, Kimberly J. Martin; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Bernice Bournes, Lorese Polk and Erma Benjamin, and many other relatives and friends.
