Juda Pat Brister
Mrs. Juda P. Brister, 92, of Jayess, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at her residence. She was born June 29, 1927, in Tylertown to Dewitt N. and Dullie Luvenia Gunnell Sandifer.
Services were held Friday, July 12, 2019, at Tilton United Methodist Church in Jayess, with graveside services following in Tilton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Bro. Kevin Trantham and Bro. Creighton White officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Juda Pat was an active member of Tilton United Methodist Church, playing the piano for many years, sharing her other talents of cooking and encouraging others by sending get well cards and giving big hugs, and serving on many church committees, including many years on the Cemetery Committee until her health declined. She was a homemaker, but she also drove a school bus in the Lawrence County School District for Topeka-Tilton Attendance Center, worked at Kellwood Manufactory in Monticello and The Otasco Store in Monticello, and wrote Tilton News for the Lawrence County Press for 58 years. Going to the Smoky Mountains (Maggie Valley) with Hugh, her husband, was something she absolutely loved. Mrs. Juda Brister will be remembered by so many for being kind and full of love for everyone.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many; she will be missed by many.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Dewitt and Dullie Sandifer; husband, Hugh Brister; daughter, Patricia (Sissy) Caul; one brother, Dewitt (Mart) Sandifer; one sister, Eloine Buckley; two great-grandchildren, Ty Brister and Baby Sartin, and son-in-law, Mack Mitchell.
She is survived by her children, Karen Mitchell, Tony Brister and wife, Joy, Doug Brister and wife, Dawn, and Sandy Brister and wife, Kim, all of Jayess; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
