Shuntang Graves Cypress
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Springhill M. B. Church for Mrs. Shuntang Graves Cypress, 46, who died Friday, May 17, 2019, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. Rev. Roy Thompson, pastor, officiated, with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Shuntang Cypress was born to the late Sybil Graves and Mr. Robert C. Brown in Brookhaven. She graduated from high school in 1989 in Rockford, Illinois. She attended Second Christian Church in Rockford and was a member of United Faith of Rockford. She lived in Rockford for 36 years and in Mississippi for 10 years. She met and married Darrin Cypress; no children were born to this union. Mrs. Cypress worked at Panino’s for many years until her health failed. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crosswords and spending time with grandchildren and family.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Herman Love.
She is survived by her father, Robert C. (Mary) Brown; two sons, Calvin (Jadira) Graves of Rockford, Illinois and DaVontaa Graves of Silver Creek; four grandchildren, Maliyah Graves, JaMarco Graves, Wayne Williams, Jr. and Jayvin Graves; special friend, Leroy Dean of Silver Creek; five sisters, Calanda Horton of Cleveland, Ohio, Lisa (Dale) Brown-Fortenberry of Silver Creek, Latanya (Steve) Lipscomb of Madison, Chonnette (Antonio) Pittman of Monticello and Paula McDuffey of Clinton; five brothers, Antonio (Jenika) May of Hattiesburg, Alan McDuffey of Bassfield; Creg (Catherine) Madison of Monticello, Rico (Marche’) Maye and Cory Maye of Monticello; special nephew, Aaron Chiles, and special cousin, Wayne Brown, and many other relatives and friends.
