Billy J. Hewitt
Mr. Billy J. Hewitt, 80, of Monticello, passed away May 6, 2019, at University Medical Center in Jackson. Billy was born February 5, 1939, in Summit to Robert and Elna Terrell Hewitt.
Services were held Thursday, May 9, at Monticello United Methodist Church. Graveside services followed at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Summit. Bro. Michael Evans officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Billy retired from the State of Mississippi after 28 years of service. He served as a District Deputy Grand Lecturer with the Grand Lodge of Mississippi. He was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church. He enjoyed Mississippi State Bulldog sports, Southern Gospel Quartet music, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Hewitt of Monticello; sons, Bobby Hewitt (Trudy) of Russellville, Arkansas and Terrell Hewitt (Tabby) of Monticello; grandchildren, Adrena Myrick (Brian), Tera Baldridge, Megan Tharp, Justin Hewitt (Jana) and Katelyn Stephens (Jason); great-grandchildren, Skylar, Lydia, and Brynlee Myrick, Alayna and Austin Baldridge, Ava Tharp and Russ Hewitt; brother, Phillip Hewitt; aunt, Lucille Terrell, and several nieces and newphews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Hewitt.
