Phyllis Mabel Sandifer

Phyllis Mabel Sandifer, 94, of Monticello, passed away March 4, 2019, at Lawrence County Nursing Center in Monticello. Phyllis was born October 1, 1924, in Natchez to Philip Joseph and Mabel Schroegler Weiss.
Services were held Friday, March 8, 2019, at Monticello Baptist Church. Graveside services followed in Old Crystal Springs Cemetery in Crystal Springs. Bro. Tim McCaffrey officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Ms. Sandifer retired after 41 years of service as a service representative, teacher and trainer from the Bell South Telephone Company. She loved spending time with and playing cards with friends, homemaking, and flower gardening, traveling and sewing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her only son, Dudley D. Sandifer, III, and wife, Jeanie, of Monticello; two granddaughters, Lori Sandifer Lockwood and husband, Rick, of Rota, Spain, and Susan Sandifer Weber and husband, David, of Memphis, Tennessee; four great-grandchildren, Julia and Miriam Weber of Memphis, Tennessee, Gray Lockwood of Madrid, Spain, and Henry Lockwood of Rota, Spain; one brother, Philip J. Weiss of Irmo, South Carolina, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Weiss of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dudley D. Sandifer, Jr., of 66 years; one brother, Donald Charles Weiss, and two sisters, Jesse Colette and Mildred Demeranville.
