Joseph Harris Williams, Sr.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 11, 2019, at China Lee M.B. Church in Silver Creek for Mr. Joseph Harris Williams, Sr., 80, who died Friday, January 4, 2019, at his residence. Rev. Johnnie Williams officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Joseph Williams, Sr. was born in Rose Hill Community to the late J.P. and Annie Mae Williams. He was a member of Rose Hill M.B. Church until he moved his membership to China Lee M.B. Church. He served in the Vietnam War, where he received a Purple Heart.
Mr. Williams worked offshore, with Monticello Hardwood and with Lawrence County Sanitation.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Williams; two sisters, Charlene Armstrong and Betty Jean Witworth; two brothers, Charles Williams and George Williams, and one grandson, Rontario Williams.
He is survived by his daughters, Angelia (James) Lowe, Annie Williams and Jessica (Robert) Hill, all of Silver Creek, and Regina Price of Gulfport; five sons, Joseph Jr. (Girtha) Williams of Silver Creek, Victor (Teonna) Williams of Houston, Texas, Charles Williams of Silver Creek, Phillip Williams of Tylertown and Zacharias (Carissa) Williams of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
