Ilyss Daniels Speights

Ms. Ilyss Daniels Speights, 87, passed away November 23, 2018, at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello. Ilyss was born July 9, 1931, in Oak Vale to Marshall and Sadie Branton Daniels.
Ilyss retired from Lawrence County Hospital, where she was the director of purchasing-material management, and also worked in the Pharmacy. She loved spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed mission trips, working in her flower beds, and she loved God and her church. She was a member of Oak Vale Baptist Church for many years, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Services were held Monday, November 26, at Oak Vale Baptist Church in Oak Vale, with graveside services following in Oak Vale Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Eddie Meyers and Bro. Robby Hathorn officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her sons, Ricky Speights (Debbie) of Purvis and James (Slick) Speights of Sumrall; daughter, Wanda Speights Daley of Monticello; 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Horace L. Speights, Jr.; daughter, Janice Ann Speights Davis, and her two great-grandchildren, Macy Lynn Mason and Ronald Cole Cook.
