Margaret Davis Garrett

Margaret Davis Garrett, 88, of Arm, passed from this life to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, September 24, 2018, surrounded by her family at her residence. She was born April 3, 1930, in Lawrence County to Charlie Preston Davis (Prep) and Lucille Reid Davis. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, George B. Garrett; sister, Charlene Davis Pierce, and brother, Jimmy Ray Davis.
Margaret retired after 60 plus years in the restaurant and catering business. She owned the Cannon House in Arm, Cotton House in Arm and Henri’s in Monticello. She was also owner of Don Lu’s Dress Shop in Mobile, Alabama.
Survivors are her six children, Phillip Garrett and wife, Tammy, of Mobile, Alabama, Steve Garrett and wife, Carmen, of Silver Creek, Lu Ann Garrett Hutchinson of Arm, Susie Garrett Edelen and her husband, Don, of Picayune, Chuck Garrett and wife, Sherri, of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Julie Garrett Barnes and husband, Jason, of Arm. Survivors also include 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Davis and wife, Pat, of Benton and Emmett Reid Davis of Flowood; one sister, Fannie Davis Mullins Speights of Monticello; a sister-in-law, Zelda Davis (wife of the late Jimmy); one brother-in-law, Willie Mack Pierce (husband of the late Charlene), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Margaret was loving, adventurous and a true friend to those who knew her. She was funny, intelligent and classy. She loved cooking, traveling, painting, art and creating beautiful things. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed her two dogs, Bess and Brinkley, to the fullest. One of her finest traits was the love she had for mankind. She was a devoted wife for 64 years and a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. Fond memories of her will live on in the lives of the people who knew her best. She will be missed.
