Florence Louise Calcote Cox
Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Louise Calcote Cox were held Friday, August 17, 2018, at Riverwood Family. Interment was at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Cox, 91, of Brookhaven, passed away August 14, 2018. She was born January 28, 1927, to her parents, Wade Hamilton Calcote, Jr. and Jennie Belle Pennington Calcote. She was a graduate of Draughon’s Business College and she continued her education with General Motors and Kenworth Trucks. Mrs. Cox worked as a Business Manager in the Automotive and Commercial Truck Industry, at a time when very few women held those positions. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. She was a very active member of the community, serving with the Willing Hearts Circle, Daughters of the American Revolution, and she served her church with over 50 years of devoted attendance and teaching Sunday School. Mrs. Cox was on the Silver Cross Nursing Home Board and was an officer with the Mississippi Square and Round Dance Association. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Kitrell Cox, Sr.; her parents and one sister, Wadie Belle DiFrancesco.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, James Kitrell Cox, Jr., and wife, Margie, Joe Calcote Cox and wife, Angie, and Jerry Marc Cox and wife, Barbie; five grandchildren, Jessica Cox Harvey and husband, Caleb, Wade Collins Cox and wife, Katie, Christopher James Cox and wife, Laura Ann, Claire Cox Strong and husband, Jonathan, and Allison Jane Cox Rittenburg and husband, Stephen, and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cox’s family would like to offer their deepest appreciation to her many caregivers both at home and at Haven Hall Health Care Center.
