Thomas “Jack” Douglas Sr.
Mr. Thomas “Jack” Douglas Sr., 90, was called home from this life July 18, 2018, at his residence in Sontag. Jack was born November 17, 1927 in Sontag to Luther A. and Brittie Lee Jackson Douglas.
Services were held Friday, July 20, 2018, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Sontag with graveside services following in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Ed King and Bro. Richard Green officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Jack retired from Kellwood Manufacturing as a cutting foreman. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for 74 years and a deacon for 66 years. He also was a member of the Lawrence County Hospital Board for 32 years and served his country in the World War II era in the United States Army. He loved his church, church family, and his family and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sarah Magee Douglas; daughter, Rhonda Martin, and husband, Doug; one sister, Anna Crane, and husband, James Earl; four grandchildren, Chelsea Douglas, Celeste Honea, Arlene Daughdrill and Kari Lambert, and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Brittie Douglas; six brothers, Marvin, Marshall (Buddy), M.L. (Snooky), Oscar, Troy and Sidney Douglas, and three sisters, Lillian Bardwell, Alice Smith and Grace Case.
