Darlene Magee Parkman

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Shady Grove M.B. Church in Silver Creek for Mrs. Darlene Magee Parkman, 77, who died Thursday, July 12, 2018, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Rev. Kevin Russell, Sr. officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Darlene Parkman was born to the late John R.P. Edsel and Margie Magee. She was baptized at Mt. Zion M.B. Church at a young age, and she united with Shady Grove M.B. Church later. She served as choir member, choir President and mission member. She attended school in rural Jefferson Davis County. She was a homemaker, seamstress and great cook.
Mrs. Parkman was married to the late Joe Parkman, Jr., and to this union eight children were born.
She is survived by three sons, John (Carla) Ezell of El Paso, Texas, Joe (Darlene) Parkman, III of Silver Creek and Earl Parkman of Reston, Virginia; five daughters, Sandra (A.D.) Madison, Linda (Amel) Armstrong, Jr., Bobby Jo (Lawrence) Madison, Katina Williams and Kristina (Lee) Rhodes, all of Silver Creek; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bobby Magee of Saratosa, Florida, Henry (Gaye) Magee, Ralph Newsome of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Doris Mangum of Prentiss, Maxie (Malbert) Tolliver of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Peggy Buckley of Atlanta, Georgia, and many other relatives and friends.
