Delmus “Buddy” Reid
Mr. Delmus “Buddy” Reid, 82, of Jayess, entered his eternal home July 3, 2018, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. Delmus was born March 18, 1936 in Pike County to Cassie and Henrye Tullis Reid.
Services were held Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Topeka Baptist Church, with graveside services following in Tilton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Bro. Dale Authement and Bro. Eddie Dupre officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Reid served in the United States Army between 1958 and 1960 in Germany during the Vietnam Era. During his working years, he was a Foreman at the Orleans Furniture in Columbia. Buddy lived a simple life. His life centered around his family, God, and work. After retirement, he spent his time gardening, building, raising animals and spoiling all of his family. He was a comedian and loved to tell stories and make people laugh. He was a member of Unity Church of Christ. He led the singing for about 50 years. His last few years were spent as a member of Topeka Baptist Church, where he happily worshipped with his entire family.
Surviving Delmus are his wife of 55 years, Janice Reid of Jayess; daughters, Regina (Donnie) Stuart of Jayess and Kimberly (Jeff) Quin of Jayess; seven grandchildren, Donnie (Dana) Stuart, Jr., Jesse (Christy) Stuart, Jacob Stuart, Sam Stuart, Emily (Scott) Nichols, Aaron Quin and Olivia Quin; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Janette Crittenden of Houston, Texas; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends and others who referred to him as Paw.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Martha Ibrom and one brother, Roger Reid.
