Harold T. McElroy

Mr. Harold T. McElroy, 83, was called home from this life on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at his residence in Monticello. Harold was born from January 4, 1935, in Cuba, Alabama, to Lee and Temple Giles McElroy.
Harold was a long time resident of Monticello, moving here to start up St. Regis paper mill in 1967, and retired from Georgia-Pacific in 1996. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by family and friends.
Services were held Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Monticello United Methodist Church in Monticello with graveside services following in Monticello United Methodist Cemetery. Rev. Mike Evans officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Wade McElroy, and great-grandson Elijah McElroy.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean McElroy of Monticello; son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Debbie McElroy of Zachary, Louisiana; daughter-in-law Gay McElroy of Monticello; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Dawn McElroy of Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren Douglas and Jennifer McElroy of Zachary, Louisiana, Randy and Ellen McElroy of Castor, Louisiana, Morgan McElroy of Monticello and Patrick and PJ McElroy of Zachary, Louisiana and great-grandchildren Megan Hart, Jordan Westbrook and Jackson McElroy of Zachary, Louisiana and Sawyer and Sadie McElroy of Castor, Louisiana.
Memorials can be made to the Habitat for Humanity of Lawrence County.
